Alphonse looked over at his older brother, a smile settling over his soft, child-like features. Indeed, ever since their mother had passed on, Edward had become a kind of mentor to Alphonse, a kind of father figure in fact. He laughed to himself, recalling the stories that Ed told him every night, reminding him of their adventures as they searched for the Philosophers stone, trying to get Al's original body back, and Ed's lost limbs. But as he remembered, his smile faded as memories of their pain, their trials and hardships, and the many sacrifices they had to endure. Al gave a soft sigh and rolled his shoulders, pushing such thoughts to the back of his mind as he released the tension that had been steadily building in his joints as him and his brother studied. alchemic algorithms and scientific equations...
